The museum was opened in the homeland of an outstanding Ukrainian writer in a building, specially built in 1989 on this occassion. On the ground floor there is a library and a reading room. The second floor is occupied by six exposition halls and the memorial cabinet of the writer from the Irpen dacha. In the collection there are writer's personal belongings, documents, photographs, film materials, furniture and books from the private library.
