The tourist beach

One of the most famous and popular holiday destinations on the island of Khortytsia is a tourist beach. The sandy beach is 900 meters long, on all sides it is bordered by high granite rocks. On the beach grows a lot of trees, giving a shadow on hot summer days. On the beach there are several springs that give cool water. Since the beach is «fenced off» from the rest of the island by high cliffs, and is completely sandy, this place is the only place where it is allowed to kindle campfires and set up tents. Collecting firewood on the island is prohibited, so it's best to bring harvested wood with you. In summer, a large campground is going on a tourist camp, here you can spend a day by the water, meet the sunset and sing songs to the guitar by the fire at night. There are also regular rock climbing sessions with special equipment – the surrounding rocks are ideal for this. It is on the tourist beach during the season that many interesting events take place in the open air, here the main holidays are celebrated, such as Night at Ivan Kupala.
