Club «Metalist» (House of Cultural «Avtozaz)

One of the buildings of the Mennonite culture. According to legends, the building was erected from the bricks of the destroyed Oleksandrivska prison, where once Nestor Makhno himself served time.

It was built in 1925 and was originally called the Metalist. In his guise, you can see variations on the popular Mennonite arch window. And the author of the project is Mennonite. The club «Metalist» was designed by the native of the Khortytsia colony, the architect Dietrich Thiessen.
