The monument to Sviatoslav the Brave

Prince of Kyivan Rus Sviatoslav the Brave (940-972) - grandson of Rurik, son of Prince Igor and Princess Olga, the father of Volodymyr the Saint, the grandfather of Yaroslav the Wise. The famous commander, who from 964 to 972 his military campaigns actually formalized the borders of the Kyiv state. He conquered the tribes of Vyatichi, destroyed the Khazar state, defeated the North Caucasian tribes of yasas and kasogs. In the spring of 972 in the unequal battle with a sword in hands, as befits a real warrior, the Kyiv prince Sviatoslav the Brave fell. There is an accurate information about his death at the rapids, and the rapids are almost 90 km from Dnipro to Zaporizhzhia.
