Everything in the composition of the monument has its significance. Even a light, wild stone, chaotically sketched on a pedestal, resembles the lifeless highlands of Afghanistan. Three pedestrians of young soldiers are installed on the pedestal. Even in the costumes of sculptures everything is thought through to the smallest detail. One of the soldiers-internationalists is clearly injured. He is pictured behind all. His gaze is lowered down. He no longer has the strength to resist a cunning and cruel enemy. But he is ready to fight to the last breath. The faces of the others read the determination to go further. The desire to return home and see mothers is stronger than fear and despair. This monument is a colossal force. The memorial complex also includes two memorable granite tablets. They are listed in chronological order in countries whose wars were attended by soldiers not only from Zaporizhzhia, but from all over the Soviet Union.
